HELP....car wont start
Just swapped a jdm b16 from HMO into my 99 si everything is hooked up but the car wont start, it will try to turn over but it wont start. Checked for spark and fuel and have both, checked the coil and ignitor and both are good. ANd when I let it sit for awhile and try to start it sounds like a gun shot from the intake mani area, also after I try starting it it smokes out of my turbo manifold thorugh the wastegate opening (wg is not mounted).. could it be I have the starter terminals hooked up backwards cause it sounds like it firing backwards
also about a month ago with my old motor I was driving and the car just died, put a new coil in and still wouldnt start...and also checked for fuel and spark and had both, so the same thing is happening to my new motor that happened to my old motor.

sounds like your firing order is mixed up. you need to take all the spark plug wires off and make sure theyre all on the right cylinders. if you have a plug wire mismatched to the wrong cylinder it will pop loud like that when u try to start it.
hooking up the starter terminals backwards wont do anything at all, the starter wont even crank at all like that. as for the smoke out the wastegate opening, that would be normal if your wastegate isnt mounted, you see, the wastegate simply expells unused exhaust gasses in order to control boost pressure. you have a spring inside the wastegate that is set to a certain boost pressure, once that boost pressure is reached the spring is overpowered and the wastegate opens to expel the extra exhaust gas in order to cap the boost level.

you need to mount your wastegate and adjust it to the desired boost level (if it is adjustable) if you dont do this the compressor wheel on the turbo probly wont
spin much at all, which could possibly result in part of your starting problem. you really need to mount that thing before you try to start it again.

lol I know all that...firing order on the distributor starting form the bottom left 1 3 2 4 and starting a one on the passenger side going to 4 on the drivers side
