To make more room for my oil filter sandwich plate I'd like to remove the stock oil cooler (I'll be running an accusump and separate oil cooler). I know I've come across the oil filter stud/nipple that I need to source but can't seem to find it again. What engine would be the donor for the filter stud I need? Thanks!
So to update this thread, yes part 90015-PH1-013 is what you need and the process is very straight forward. Basically remove factory oil cooler, loop the coolant line, put on the new oil filter nipple. I did this with my engine out, so that makes it really easy, but working with the engine in the car should still be very doable.
Starting point:
Remove the factory oil cooler (30mm socket). The coolant hose coming out of the block stays to be connected to the water pipe nipple.
Remove the hose from the block and rotate it so that it fits on the water pipe without kinking.
Thread in the new filter nipple. There are no provisions for putting a wrench on it to tighten it, I used a rubber strap wrench and got it as tight as I could.
Done. Here's where you'd want to put on your sandwich plate for your external oil cooler, mine hasn't arrived yet.
I know this was 5 years ago, but you mention a sandwich plate? Looks like an oil filter will seal just fine against that mating surface, without any additional parts in between? Did you acquire the sandwich plate and install, or no? If so, got a part number handy?
