got the engine out

well.... i finally got the engine out of my 5th gen. it took me like 3 weeks to get the head off from when i started b/c Helms didn't send out my manual, and i didn't want to get too far into the project w/o a manual. i then found out i had broken like half the head off a valve thanks to my AEM bypass valve, and all the debris it sucked in scarred the hell out of my cylinder walls. so i decided to re-sleeve and build the hell out of it. i ordered custom oversized JE pistons and they came in sooner than expected. so now my pistons are here, the engines out, and now all i have to do is disassemble it and send it off to golden eagle. i know this post was pointless other than to say what i have done, but i figured someone might be interested/

Where in NC are you at? I'm going through the same **** right now. Taking me like a month to get the block out, but i don't have enough time to do it and when i do i'm to lazy to start ******* with it. What kind of price did you get to resleeve your block. Anyways good luck with the rest of it.

i'm in Fletcher NC, just about 20 min below Asheville. that think is suck a pain in the ***. it has all those stabilizers and ****. if it only the engine was a simple as a B-series..... but if it was a b-series, there would be anything special about it.... just another b-series i guess. so far i have broken the oil pan getting it off (i can't belive that thing is cast!!), one of the thread parts on the wter pump was broken and i immediately thought it was was the block that was broken and almost began to cry until i realized it was the water pump. i managed to somehow bend the oil pump pickup so i trashed it too, and now i can't get the oil pump off...... so many problems, but if it were easy, it'd be no fun right?

Yeah, i feel your pain. I guess it will be worth it in the end though, right?! Better be for all the head aches i've gone through. Good luck getting everthing done. Do you ever go to Rockingham. How much did they quote you to do the block and what all are you getting done?

the block is being sent to Golden Eagle for new sleeves, all the head work is gonna be done by KMS Enginering in Convington GA, they are also going to knif-edge and cryo my crankshaft..... as for assembly, i plan to do all that myself. i built that LS/VTEC myself, but i have learned that there is a lot more to an H-series engine than there is to a B-series
