I have a 94 preude and i race it wont stay cool i have changed everything and head gaskets miled to be safe ect. i run a three inch 19x23 alluminum outlaw radiator with stock fans and need to know the cfm of the stock fans, i looked at aftermarket but i wanna make sure i am running more than i have now . I run them the whoe time i race and still hold 200 to 210. also tried gutting thermostat as well and have an aftermarket guage in it . It is located in the front left motor water kneck coud that give me bad readings?

That sounds normal if your racing the car. You are putting more load on the engine which means higher temps. The fans only work at zero to low speeds. If your already moving pretty quick they wont help you and you will just be adding an extra load on the engine by having them on, which in turn will raise your temps.

Replace the Tstat with one from Honda. Gutting it doesn't help IMO. The coolant moves too quickly through the motor to effective remove heat and moves too quickly through the radiator properly cool down.

Good luck finding the CFM of a stock fan like that. I have never been able to find anything like that for any car.

have you ever looked into using waterwetter and see how that effects your temps.

What do you consider "cool"? 200-210 is operating temp and of no consequence.....

Very good. A true understanding of the cooling system.

Yes we use water wetters three bottles. Not allowed coolant track rules.

Thanks! Radiators and coolant/cooling systems have been my job for the past 2.5 years so I should know what's going on!

I would say anything 215° and above. I start to get worried around 200° when sitting in traffic.

Water wetter IMO does not reduce temps, I use it in conjunction with distilled water to restore lost lubrication properties which coolant has. The thinner water/wetter mixture disperses heat faster than the thicker 50/50 coolant making your vehicle's cooling system more efficient.

OP, are you allowed to use straight water (distilled only!)? Have you replaced the Tstat with one from Honda?

Depends on engine operating parameter. Some cars have an operating temp of 220-230.

In your case, I would start to worry around 215 or so, as someone stated earlier. Remember proper operating temp is essential for fuel atomization and oil flow, among other things....

Get a racing thermostat ~160*F (stock is 195*F).
