Default Engine Sounds...

2001 Prelude SH

Okay...this is tough to describe, but I will do my best. My engine sounds very loud when running at all RPM's above 2000. It's not a tapping sound, and it's not a pinging sound...it sounds almost like a deisel. I don't feel any power loss, and my Integra didn't sound like this. Am I just being paranoid, and don't know what my car sounds like? (I've had the Lude for 2 months now)

Thankz for your help.

Sounds like a spun bearing.....get your oil pan dropped and have your bearings inspected..and rebuild your engine.

you might need your valves adjusted, if it was a spun bearing it would knock really loud.

How long has it sounded like this? A 2001 lude shoulden't need a valve adjust. just yet (unless you have high miles). Mine has sounded kind of like this since I have had it. My last Lude sounded the same way for some reason.

I'm pretty sure it's the engine. It sounds that way at stop, and with the car in neutral revving. I think I'm just being paranoid...(I hope so anyway).

PS...the car only has 11,000 miles on it.

Sometimes my engine makes weird sounds also. Like tonight, I was parking and I could have sworn I was hearing "haunted house" type of sounds, thinking it was from a haunted house down the street, I turned off my car, the sound was gone...strange...
thats from ur CAI... armen's does that too..
