same thing was going on in my 4th gen. It was the starter.....got to the point where it wouldn't start at all......then i would go back an hour or 2 later and it would start right up. But try the starter, sounds like the same problem i was having

It's probably your main relay.

There is NO WAY it is his starter.

andyD is right, no way its the starter at all.....this is an intermittent main relay problem due to heat......

electronics that are starting to crap out will work cold but then after you drive it and things get hot inside, they cease to work, but then will work fine again after they cool a bit....

hence how it probably starts fine at home, but after you drive some and then shut it off, it wont start, due to the heat thing....then you give it like 2 minutes to cool off and it starts fine....my 93 vtec used to do this, it was the main relay.....

yeah, and it couldn't be the starter in both cases where he swapped out the old motor with the new one

No, buy that oem or re-soldier the connections yourself.

It's located under the dash by the steering column

i agree wholeheartedly, it is the main relay. i had to buy one from Honda and my butt still hurts $73 and that's preferred customer discount
