Engine making tapping noises
I own a '93 Prelude SI with just a 100K on it....
The engine got louder recently and making tapping noises. Do I need a valve timing? Or is there something else I can do to make my engine quiter?
Thanks for your comments

It may be time to adjust the valves, you already changed the timing belt right? Is it a light ticking? Has anything happened that would cause us to belive that something has happened to cause this?

Well I've been driving it the same way I always have been. The ticking noise started getting louder once I hit 100K miles. I read somewhere that if you use an octane booster it will quit down your engine.....is that accurate?

ok here are a couple things to check that might help you decide. is it a ticking or more of a knocking sound? if you put the car in 4th or 5th and drive 30mph and accelerate does it get louder? if you have someone hold the gas at 2000-3000 rpm, stand in front of the car listen for the noise. then get on the ground and listen for the noise under the car. Does it seem like its louder near the top? or bottom? If its louder form the bottom change your oil or even pull your oil pan to see if there are any small flacks of metal, if so you might have spun a bearing. I had a h23 that spun a bearing at 113000 miles

Hey Thanks for the tip I will try that out. As for the oil I did change it like a month ago. It did get a little quiet....but it started coming back. I probably do need a valve adjustment.....but I will try out your suggestion.
