the knock sensor is a sensor that detects pinging or detonation , or what they call a "knock" (usually caused by low grade fuel or heated inatke charge). so when you ecu detects that one or more of the cylinders is experencing predetonation it pulls the timing back and also adds alittle more fuel. now my guess is that since you turbo and your throwing a knock code, i bet there is somthing wrong with you fuel managment or timing. if you have a **** load of knock then the ecu will set a code, how long have you been turbo and what are you using for fuel management?

the other alternative is that you knock indeed is bad. but like i said with you being turbo it much easyier to detonate or ping when things arn't right

I had this set up with turbo for about a week, I was haveing problem with all my senors like 02,map,egr,knock,TB,. MY set up is like this. I run 93 gas.t-3 turbo 5psi, aem fuel rail, dsm 450cc injectors, s-afc. my settings are -30 arcoss the board on high and low. I set the timming . with the red mark in the middle of the pointer. now with the h23 in the old f22 spot is there a plug for the h23 knock sensor, cause there is no knock sensor for the f22? thanks Ray

im not sure if the f22 does or doesn't have a knock, i would have to look it up. but the snesor on the h23 is located above the oil press sender on the back of the block.

i don;t think its you sensor, there is something wrong with your fuel delivers. from what i have read the h23 has 240 for injectors and when you do the afc hack with 450 you sould be runing -40 on the low end to -35 on the high end, -30 is to rich and may not be limitin the map signal enough and thats why your throwing the map code. ask in the FI board, but i would try the settings i recommended. thats you problem: fuel , not your sensor, right now you have to finish getting the proper settings so that you can "trick" the ecu into being happy. also make sure you afc is wired correctly.

edit: im off to work for a couple of hours, if you need more help there are plenty of smart people here, and ill be back later good luck

thanks a lot prelittlelude. I looked the f22 has no knock sensor. I will adjust my afc to the stting you said, see what happens there. and where is the knock located at on the h23 block, casue I have my oil feed line for my turbo hooked to the sensor reight below the oil filter. it has one wire on it. and there is one plug (I think), that is right above the oil filter its pretty close the intake manifold, but its on the block. and I have no plug to go in to the fitting. thanks for your help, I won't be back on computer til tomorrow.

I don't think it's the sensor itself either. If that were broken no knock would be detected and the ECU would run you at full advance and you'd likely blow up.

ok put the afc across the -40 across the board. still ran a little rough, still have a code for map and knock. messed with timing didn't get to drive the car yet since the change. but at idle I see black smoke out of the tail pipe. so I'll let you know how it runs today.
