Engine break in? Tuning?
Ok, my motor is currently being built. It consists of a GE sleeved open deck H22(stock bore), 9 to 1 compression pistons and pauter rods. Everything else is stock. This is going to be dropped into my 92 CX hatch. I spoke to a tuner about breaking it in on a dyno and he told me that I didn't need to tow it to him. He told me since the only thing that's different on this motor is the compression, the stock P13 should run it fine. Now my question is, Is it safe to drive on the honda ecu to the tuner(1.5hrs away)? Could I break it in with a stock ecu on? I'm taking it to my tuner so he can tune my AEM EMS. This is completely NA. Tried the tuning forum but no one seems to know. Thanks in advance guys.
Just don't be revving it up into VTEC, drive it really nice, and don't hold a steady speed, try to vary your speed, slowing and speeding up to let the motor rev up and down through the 2500-4500 rpms.
Run the stock computer with the stock injectors. Don't take it above 3-3500rpms and you'll be fine.
If this is a daily driven motor I would personally put at least 500-1000 miles on it before tuning. That's just me though...

I break cars in like they are used. If it's a drag car... go ahead and heat cycle the engine for 30 min and tune it. The rings will seal better after time goes by... It will be fine to drive on the stock ecu as long as you have stock injectors and fuel pressure.
