EGR question....
Hey guys, i need your help on this one. I have a 92 prelude Si with 125,000miles on it. Ive been having rather rough idling once in a while in my car. The mechanic said it could be my first cylinder misfiring...
now i have a code for my EGR not working so i got a block off plate from someone here on HT, and installed it monday night. Now since then i have not had any problems with my idling.. its almost 2 days now that its perfect. Is this a coincidence or could it be my EGR Was F*ed up and maybe causing a vacuum leak of some sort? does the EGR have any direct relationship with my idling?
thanks guru's

Yes the egr is ususally one of the first things to check if you are having a rough/miss at idle.
I am assuming that the valve being open at idle causes the miss or rough idle.

but the thing is when my car was idling low, it was the first cylinder that wasnt firing at all... you could remove the spark wire, and the idle wouldnt change at all... do you really think a bad EGR could cause that?!?!?!
well the egr feeds into Cyl 1.
I know that if your are troubleshooting your EGR system and you apply voltage at the 2 pin solenoid connection when idling. The car is supposed to stall as a result of the valve being wide open.

ok well i blocked off the EGR and the car is running great... kinda confusing if you ask me...
