Default ECU question... answer needed quickly yo!

OK... the GSR ECU will plug and play into a Lude... but will a obd1 B16 ECU do the same?

I don't know for sure, but one problem you will have is that the b16's have no secondary intake runner like the Prelude and GS-R have. So since the b16 ECU cannot control it, the secondary intake runners will be either always closed or always open - I'm not sure which... But neither one is good for drivability... If they are stuck closed, you have no top end. If they are stuck open [EDIT ] you will have no bottom end and I don't know if it would even be able to idle...

On a side note, have you actually used the stock GS-R ECU on an H22a? I looked into this ECU swap into my OBD2 Prelude a while back, and I was told by more than one person that it would not even idle with a GS-R ECU.

the obdI GSR ECU will work... at least with my 4th gen. and I don't care about HOW it drives, just so long as it DOES drive for 3 days.

Sorry, this is kinda taking this thread OT but...

Don't you think something is really fishy looking about that dyno plot... The H22a motors hit peak power right at 6800-6900 rpm. If you look at those plots, they are peaking at only 6600rpm for the GSR ecu and only 6300 rpm for the H22a ECU - and falling off hard after that... On top of that, that h22a ecu plot is definitely not a motor with just "a milled head, all the bolt on's, stock cams, stock intake manifold, S pistons", and a fuel regulator. If there is no VTEC controller in there, then where is the legendary H22a VTEC spike? Surely a fuel pressure regulator alone cannot even out a huge spike like this bone stock H22a4 plot:

I mean come on, that plot from Import Review with the H22a ECU is making 160hp+ before 5000 rpm! That's like a gain of 40-50 HP over stock at that RPM point! - There's just no way... I call BS... I really don't think those are even H22a plots. I think there is either a lot more going on that car than just the listed mods, or those plots are phoney...

man, I'm not arguing dyno plots, cause I wasn't there. You may be 100% correct here...
BUT!
My point is that it will work!
Thanks for the warning about the secondaries.

I think I may have a line on a GSR ECU for the weekend.

Ha Ha! OK... I digress...

You know the GS-R ECU would probably not be a good long-term idea for your car either. The 1993-96 Prelude VTECs use peak and hold injectors. The GS-R has always used saturated type injectors. The 97+ Preludes also use saturated injectors - and that's why I was looking for info on using the GS-R ECU on a 97+ H22a4...

The two types of injectors use different voltage signals in Hondas. So you could risk damaging the ECU and/or your injectors by using a saturated injector GS-R ECU with your peak and hold H22a injectors...
