Its a review on the difference between GS-R ECU and a Stock H22A ECU on an ODB1 prelude.
I know its something you guys have wanted from me for awhile, so I will provide youw ith what you want!
I hope it helps you spend your money wiser. Thats the goal.

Good stuff Jeff. A while back you said you were gonna start building some h22s up....any info? I really want a lude engine in my civic. -Rod
Very nice.. Makes me think about doing that.. Is the GS-R ECU plug and play..? Or is a harness needed?? I am allowed to use any ECU for the honda-challenge, so this may be the way for me to go..
Great timing JEFF, last Sunday I went to the race track and have tried a P71 ECU on my LUDE, w/ a 9500 REV LIMITER. After 8k I feel a power loss and drop a tenth of my time, but It sure does feels great when finishing in 3rd gear...
Integra have bigger lobes than PRELUDE, so with the right setting on the V-AFC is it worth the swap then dyno the car...?Nice to see that your still around

D.specs: is ur engine using stock internals ?
9500RPM isn't really healthy for the h22a man
ehhe
u say u feel power loos after 8k rpm ?
what do u think the power loss is attributed to ?
i know that spoon ecu for h22a stops at 8500 ..
and i personally wouldn't go higher than that on stock engine with springs..

PLEASE PLEASE! do it!
i want to get that program with obdI conversion this winter. .
would be really cool to see the improvement over completly stock engine with stock ecu
if that is possible
by the way ... ur site rocks with all the dyno and stuff

and...do u sell or program ecus ?
how much for spoon on h22a ecu ?

and i'll need adapter too ;p

I have changed my valve springs and retainers. Everything else is stock....I got the whole set so It can help me for RPM ranges...and more
JG LUDER the idea of having an NSX ecu is sweet but I would doubt maybe because it's program for a V-6....

probably not... I just tossed up the idea more for humor than anything.
Now, shoving an NSX motor inthe *** end of the Lude... THAT'S a different story.

I swear, if I ever win the lottery the projects I will have...
i seriously wonder wich ecu specs are the best for H22a ..( streetable )
the gsr thing is completly out of the possibility with the drop it takes where the fun is with h22a
but ..it's weird that the power goes that high..
maybe someone could play with the mapps and stuff and mix gsr with stock ecu maps..

What is that? Like a 3.5 percent increase in HP on a rather highly modified N/A engine? I guess that's significant...
Oh actually I can't even read the numbers on that graph.

Would switching the vtec x-over to a later rpm help at all? so then the big cam wouldn't be wheezing (if that's what its doing)? If its not that, is it a lack of fuel in the gsr tables? If so, couldn't we play with the vtec x-over and smooth things out some, or am i missing something?

I have a ODBI p72 here, I will plug it in and drive it for a few days, I will let you know how it works out.

"The Hondata method of setting the VTEC point is better than any other piggyback computer. Why? Hondas have two fuel and two ignition maps (***see the tech section****). With add on VTEC controllers, the camshaft is forced to switch while running on the wrong fueling and ignition tables. This can cause fuel to be as far as 10% out and ignition to be retarded up to 6 degrees. Some VTEC controllers allow a coarse correction for fuelling, none allow correction for ignition advance. The best method is to switch the maps at the same time the camshaft is changed. This is how Hondata modified ecus function."
