Default ECU Code 45

Well the beast decided it was time to throw a code 45 at me a few weeks back. From what i understand this means to rich or to lean. So what exactly is the problem ? bad cat? Thats what i think it is but just wanted to be sure before i went and spent the 300 whatever bucks to replace it.

Thanks in advance for any info.

drill out that damn bolt son. then replace it. you have an exhaust leak inbetween the sensors.

Yah, that's not going to help at all.

First thing you should do is have an OBDII scan tool determine exactly what DTC is stored in the ECU. P0171 = too lean, P0172 = too rich.

Too lean causes:
1. fuel pump
2. clogged fuel line
3. fpr stuck open
4. fuel filter clogged
5. fuel injector clogged
6. bad fuel
7. bad PRIMARY O2 sensor.
8. EGR (too much flow)
9. valve clearance
10. exhaust leak

Too rich causes:
1. fpr clogged, stuck closed
2. fuel return clogged
3. leaking injector
4. bad fuel
5. bad PRIMARY O2 sensor
6. EGR (insufficient flow)
7. EVAP purge solenoid leaking
8. valve clearance

its really not that hard. he is using my cat. i had the same thing and it is because there are only two bolts in there. the other one is sheered off. just drill it out and put a new bolt in there.
