Default Fixed Running Lean Code..now P0420 Catalyst code??

Ok..I fixes by running lean bank 1 codes by replacing my O2 sensor and was wondering if once I fixed the codes and if they didn't come back does that mean I am not running lean anymore? Or might I still be running lean? Also, now I have a P0420 code and I never had that one before it says it is a Catalyst Efficiencey Below Threshold...any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, forgot to say that the O2 sensor I replaced was the primary one..and that was on Friday...and the code my car is throwing says Bank 1..?? Any ideas if this will cause harm to my car? I won't let it go like that for long, but need to know if it'll be fine for about 2 weeks..check engine light just turned on yesterday.

Thanks!

Won't cause any harm. All it does is check to see if the cat is working, but inputs from it aren't used for engine control. This was added for OBD2, so they don't stick the emissions tester in the exhaust pipe anymore. (In TX anyways). If you wanted, you can take that sensor out and plug the hole, then leave the sensor in the air. The cel will go off and you can pass inspection. Or you can replace the cat.

So either...plug my rear O2 sensor..right? or remove my cat? But if I leave my rear O2 sensor out won't I have reduced gas mileage? Abd you said I had to leave it out..by that do you mean I need to unplug it all together...or unbolt it and leave it connected and just hanging..? Also, a little off topic...they don't put the tester in the exhaust in Texas? I ask, because I will be moving there shortly and need to know if it's easy passing smog...Oh yeah, any thoughts on if I am still running lean..even if the running lean codes are not there anymore after my primary O2 sensor install?

Thanks!

You won't have reduced gas mileage because you're unplugging the SECOND o2 sensor, not the first. Just let it hang in the air so it reads clean. They don't test your emissions if you're OBD2, cat efficiency is determined by the obd system. I'm not sure what the lean code is. I have the same thing and can't get rid of it. Wasn't the o2 sensor.
