Drivers Side Outer Axle
OK I had to replace the drivers side Outer CV axle and i replaced it with an auto zone cv axle I knew i shoulda got a honda but was tryin to save money. Now when i drive like around 65-90 miles my car feel like its shaking bad around that area(drivers side out cv axle) like my tires were outta balance bad but they are not i just got them balanced also once it gets to 90mph and over she drives smooth as hell. my question is: does the cv axle also have to be balanced too or what cuz this **** is pissin me off or what else could be causing this.
Wow, sorry no one can help answer your question. I'm having the same problem with my car, and i'm still trying to figure mines out too. Did you find out what caused the vibration? From what i know axles if bought new should work fine, but remanufactured ones can be faulty. I'm going to be trying new axles, and intermediate shaft for mines next weekend. A bent rim will also caused that. In my case I tried new rims, tires, upper, lower balljoint, tie rod, alignment, motor mounts are new since last year, and the only thing left I can think of that may cause the problem is my axles. I dont know but it is frustrating. If i do find the cause before you do i'll let you know just incase it is caused by the same thing.
I hear this quite a bit. I would guess that these axles arn't balanced perfectly by the amount of negative feedback.
I'm sure everybody here will suggest OEM axles to you in the end!

from what my former mech says, the aftermarket oem axles have larger ball bearings, and it takes longer for them seat properly in the cv joint.
When i had axles from advanced auto put on my accord they made noise usually just during turns, for about 2 months, then no noise or problems since..

I would also check out the radius rod, mine went loose after a couple months when I replaced it and I could feel vibrations/wheel shaking when I brake or accelerate hard.

The radius rod is attached to the sub-frame. It is quite easy to spot just look straight down into the engine bay. The nut will be holding the radius rod towards the front of the subframe which is easy to reach when you jack the car up and it is right under there.
