Default CV Joint Snap Ring Problem

Before beginning the story/question/problem. I need help with my current situation, so if possible I would like to know how to get this cv axle out, or suggestions, than pointing out any other obvious things I should have done before I put the cv axle in, such as buying brand new axles from hasport or something. For anyone in the typical category is all. Thanks.

Alright here is the problem, I ordered a pair of remanufactured cv axles from O'Reilly's. There was only one store that had them. I inspected the cv axle, and saw that the snap ring was being pinched by the cv axle, meaning it was like it molded to close so to say. The guy said thats all we had in stock, and I need to get to work. He said for me to bring it back if it is no good.

I said ok, so went home and pryed the snap ring out some so it was free to move. I thought it would be fine. Well how am I suppose to bring the axle back if its stuck in my intermediate shaft (Drivers side axle)

This snap ring is stuck so badly its pulling the end rubber seal (of the intermediate shaft) with it, if you look closely. I used pry bars, all sorts of weird stuff, but also I'm on jack stands so I can't use all my weight into it. Nonetheless able to use my biggest pry bar.

Any suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

you can remove the axle and int. shaft together as an assy
put them in a vise and then you can get 2 pry bars on either side of the joint and hopefully pry it away from the int. shaft?

Note:Forgot to mention that I installed the axle, which is the reason why I'm trying to get out now since it is broken.

Thats definately a good idea, I was thinking about doing that but man, I didn't want to have to go through all that to replace an axle.

I'mma try a few more methods and if al else fails I will do that.

Also I found out that the pinched snap ring cv axle was on the passenger side which I successfully moved. I am not sure why the drivers side axle is not coming out easily.

Thanks, and any more suggestions is appreciated.

I had to take out the intermediate shaft with the cv axle and I used a brass punch and put inbetween the connection of the cv axle and intermediate shaft and smack it in with a hammer.

The width of the punch spread out the cv axle from the int. shaft.

The inside of the intermediate shaft was rusted a bit was all.

Thanks for all the info you all.
