Default Distributor options for Prelude H22

Im looking to upgrade my distributor on my H22a. I swaped it into a prelude SI which had the H23. Im currently using the 100k+ mile H23 external coil distributor and I think it might have something to do with some of the problems I have been having. Anyone know any model numbers of MSD or equal quality distributors that would work and be an upgrade? Auto part store wants to charge me $250 for a remanufatured honda one Any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't know whether or hot the f series will work but you can convert to the internal coil h22a1 distributor.

are you doing some serious engine work? if not, stick with oem.

i'm running the h23 distributor on mine, well over 100k and its fine. i just replace the cap/rotor every year or so.

seems like ppl have problems running msd (plugs or wires pop off, crappy build quality, etc) do a small search and you will find out.

I agree unless you are running 450+hp then stick with OEM, people seem to be having trouble with the MSD gear for hondas.. there are several threads involving problems after MSD installs.

Hmmm, well yeah im not doing any serious engine work as of yet. The problem i am having is high idle and the distributor (more than likely the coil) makes a strange tick/grinding noise that it shouldnt. Any idea how to convert to the internal coil? I have an internal coil distributor that came with my JDM engine but the wiring doesnt match up. Just trying to find a solution that doesnt cost me an arm and a leg but will still be dependable. thanks for the advice thus far
