DIFFERANCE BETWEEN THE SH ENGINE BLOCK AND REGULAR ONE
HI, IM GETTING A NEW ENGINE BLOCK PUT IN MY 2000 PRELUDE ON MONDAY BY HONDA. I REALLY WANTED THE SH ENGINE BLOCK PUT IN INSTEAD OF THE REGULAR ONE BUT I DIDNT KNOW IF ANY OTHER COMPONENTS HAD TO BE CHANGED FIRST. I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE DIFFERANCE IS BETWEEN THE THE SH ENGINE BLOCK AND THE REGULAR ONE.
THANKS!
THANKS!
DO YOU HAVE AN SH OR BASE PRELUDE? THERE ARE DIFFERENCES IN THE ACTUAL DESIGN OF THE BLOCK AND THE SH BLOCK WILL NOT FIT A BASE TRANSMISSION WITHOUT MODIFICATION AND VICE VERSA. IF YOUR CAR IS A BASE, THERE IS NO REASON TO PUT IN AN SH UNLESS YOU ARE CHANGING THE TRANNY AS WELL. IF YOU WANT THE ADVANTAGES OF THE SH TRANNY, YOU ARE BETTER OFF PUTTING IN THE BASE ALONG WITH A QUAIFE LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL.
Damn, typing all caps makes my eyes hurt...

sh engine also has linkages for the ATTS, the actual engine thought is almost identical. It isnt like the difference between a normal engine and then one with vtec, you dont get any gains out of dropping an sh engine into a base prelude.
WHY ARE YOU LETTING HONDA PUT YOUR NEW ENGINE IN, I HOPE IT IS WARANTY, BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO OVER CHARGE YOU.
THANKS!!!

oil filter location, ATTS mounting holes that prevent an axle carrier bearing being directly bolted to the block with out fabrication, all else is identical. If it is a base prelude then it would be piontless to put in an SH block because you get 0 gains.
I ALSO WANTED TO KNOW HOW I CAN INCREASE THE TORQUE OF THE NEW ENGINE ONCE INSTALLED WITHOUT DOING ANY MAJOR ENGINE WORK. I KNOW THAT THE SH HAS AN ACTIVE TORQUE TRANSFER SYSTEM IN IT. DOES THAT INCREASE THE TORQUE?

No, ATTS does not increase engine torque output.
ATTS transfers torque to the inside wheel during hard turning to reduce understeer.

omg....
1. turn off caps
2. Learn what ATTS does
3. Get the engine that was in your car originally. The other one is not better than the other. It just depends what type prelude you have.
4. turn off caps.

Ok dood, You cannot simply just slap ATTS on your car if it is a base. You have front suspension components to clear the ATTS unit that would need to be replaced, and then it is a nightmare to wire all the sensors that are associated with ATTS and after that you have to purchase a new ECU so you can plug in the ATTS ecu into it. So you would be looking at 6000.00-7000.00 if you wanted to do this, do you think that is cost effective for something that gives you no power benefit?
Stop asking questions that if you used the search button, would have answered all your questions on this matter. And stop using the caps lock.
