Default clutch problems

I was driving the other night and 2as slowly cruising in 3rd gear I punched it it pulled as usual but when vtec cracked it felt wierd like a hesitation. Car is a ek with a h22. Now when I drive and im in the higer rpms near vtec the clutch will get stuck in gear I cant take it out or change gears untill the car slows down. It does it in every gear. The car drives fine just in higher rpms with a lot of load rhe clutch seems to not wanna engage or disengage could my clutch be slipping? It pulls hard still just wont go out of gear if I smash on it

Sounds like you need to replace your clutch and throw out bearing.

Whats an Ebay clutch? Got to be more specific on the brand...

I would try bleading your clutch before I went and started replacing stuff. You may have air in the system which would cause the clutch not to work properly. It doesnt really sound like it is slipping, even if it were slipping you'd still be able to change gears.

Yeah slipping will rear its ugly head starting in upper gears at high load such as uphill driving or fast highway merging, and get progressively worse, where when you give it gas instead of the car accelerating it just revs up real fast without going any faster, just like what it would do if you push the clutch in.

What may have happened, if the hydraulic system is fine even after being bled, and there are no leaks, would be a spring breaking out of the disc. It can get jammed in between the disc and pressure plate, and jam up engagement or disengagement of the clutch.

For me my eBay clutch was a brand called PPC and it was not great at all. The clutch wasn't engaging properly after a few attempts at bleeding the hydro system, and later I found out my release bearing went bad on me. It's pretty sad that an entire clutch kit went bad after having only 3,000 miles on it. So I replaced it with an Exedy oem clutch and haven't had an issue since. The saying "you get what you pay for" rings true on any car parts especially when its concerning eBay clutches. I would definitely try Rosko's idea on this one and bleed your hydraulic system and see if that yields any luck. If not then its time to think about replacing the clutch.

I had that happen once on my z32 300zx several years back, happened as I was beginning a drift. that was pretty scary loosing all clutch function as it stayed locked and clutch pedal was a brick, and didn't know it til I needed to use the clutch to help control the drift I was now in.

but yeah, OP, try bleeding the clutch

yes you can use the act pressure plate with the XTD disc. if you buy an xtd clutch, it will come with a new throwout bearing, just use that.

a lot of people will tell you not to use that "XTD garbage". I will tell you I used an XTD clutch in my car, and it worked great. over 300hp the entire time, 120k miles before it started to wear into the rivets. but I also made over 150 strip passes on MT slicks, 2 seasons of autocross, and 5 years of heavy daily driven street abuse.
