Damn man, lemme tell you to be very careful. Cover ALL ELECTRICAL **** including the distributer because I forgot to and got a little water underneath the cap, I lost cylinder #3 for more than a week! I would suggest some elbow grease and a towel, no water.

I hand-wash mine with a wet micro-fiber rag. Looks good, but takes hours.

I usually do a quick spray and then do the rest by hand. Works fine. Just stay away from the distributor like mentioned before. Clean that ****. There is nothing worse tha a dirty motor.

I have cleaned my engines for years guys. Either Simple green if your doing it in a residential area or 2-3 cans of engine gunk. Spray under the hood under the engine, battery, fire wall - everything except the distributer - some people put aluminum foil around their distributor. If you using a high pressure hose like at a car wash just don't be dumb - keep the pressure tip at least 2 - 3 ft away from everything. Make sure your block is cooled off and wash off any that may have gotten onto your fenders or anywhere else on the paint.

Start the engine when finished and let it dry off from the heat. Good luck.

i saturate it with simple green, use very little water to rinse, and lots of rags and elbow grease.. I also put bags over all the elctronics and tape them of real good (ie fuse box and distributor.. and i also unhook the battery just to be safe, let it dry dont start right away and if you can use an air compressor and a blower attachment to blow out water around the spare plugs and distributor

I work at a dealership and use a product simply known as "Engine shine". I was talking with the detail guy and I was like..."so let me get this straight, you put this on your engine and it makes it shine hugh?" He said "hells ya!", and I've been using it ever since. LOL... who knows what it really is.

Cleaning by hand yeilds the best results.
