Check Engine Hell!!!!!
OK guys I have a 93 honda prelude with a new engine, new clutch, new axels, new ignition system (coil, rotor, distributor, spark plugs, and wires) and i still have a problem with the car starting. Im almost out of ideas except for the alarm system that came with the car the that i am about to yank out because the dumbass who had the car before i did seemed to think it was ok to put an alrm system for and automatic trans. in a straight drive 
, but i need to know if there is anything else i should check for?? i am going to run the car in diagnostic mode in a bit and see what comes out of this car's [freak]ed up brain but on top of that i have another problem 
. When i do get the car started (or when it decides to start) when i get up to about fifth gear the check engine light comes on. It doesn't always do it right away, but eventually it does.......any ideas?? please help me out im tired of my car's icon being

I would just check the engine code or codes and go from there. Also check your basics: fuel, spark, compression, and timing. What do you mean by 'run the car in diagnostic mode'?

i just meant i would check the codes 
prob not the best way of putting it lol but ya im bout to go do that now or at least see where the plug or bolt or whatever is under there to to put the paperclip in lol i was wondering i havent seen what my year is suppose to have to check the codes do you know exactly???

ok i see the 2 pin connector so how am i suppose to get it to run the codes?????? i have to paper clip but am i suppose to put each end of the paper clip into the each side of the clip???

hey nevermind dude i got the codes but i was wondering if you knew what it meant?????? it gave me a 1 2 code and im going to go look it up but if you can beat me to the punch that would be great lol hope you reply

ok people i just got what the code on my car meant 12
EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SYSTEM (EGR) so now my icon is so thanx to who ever replied ill let you guys know if i need any more help
