tried searching, but didn't come up with much. anyone ever have this code after putting in new pistons?

Since you're OBDI it has to be something with your distributor. Try switching it for a known good one and see if it goes away.

i put on a new rotor and cap when i put the motor back in. think the new one could be bad?

You might have accidentally unplugged one of the connections inside of there. Pop it open and make sure everything is snug.
