how can i check my cel with having the my 4th gen running? it comes and goes and it wont stay constant enough for autozone to check it cause they need the car to be off. if i plug in the scanner with the car running will it fry? thanks

Yes, No it will NOT fry the ECU or the scanner. Curious, where did you hear that plugging in a scanner with the engine running would fry the ECU?

advance auto parts and autozone told me screw counting flashes then im gonna use their scanner with my car on next time it comes up

Man they are so stupid. There signs even say they can only do OBD2 cars, are they trying to plug an OBD2 scanner into an OBD1 Car?

JUst do it yourself, its simple, find the little blue connecter and jump it with a paper clip. Its easy to do, and count the flashes, 1 long flash means 10 and 1 short flash means 1.

Like code. Long blink2 and short blink 5 = 25

the flash counting way works with the car still running? thats my problem cause as soon as i turn my car off the cel doesnt come on for awhile its pretty random and i cant seem to figure out whats causing it

HONDA has one. On the 3 pin connector next to the 2 pin. Allows us to access live data, dtc's, perform limited tests, take snapshots and such. Its pretty cool.
