Boost is Boost Right???
Some people say this....I sat down to think about it for my situation...
I want to run 7psi on stock internals....no more, no less, fully tuned on a Hondata s200b by the guys at RPM NYC, until I can get the block built.
Im starting to piece together a custom turbo kit
I want to go with a t3 60-1 stage V .63/.70 a/r
I understand that this turbo makes relatively big #'s at low boost
and oooh say a t3/to4B .50 E trim wheel stage 3 .63 A/R wont make as much at the same boost levels
why is that??? or do I have things mixed up???
and which one would you guys suggest for the stock motor 7psi daily and no more...Ill be building the motor up 8-12 months(probally a lot less than that) after I get the custom turbo kit on there and tuned
TIA

ignore the word boost for a minute.
Think pressure and volume.
A smaller turbo will give you 15 psi, but it won't move near as much air as a larger turbo. The object is to get more AIR into the motor, who cares what pressure it takes.
A semi truck tire at 60psi and a spare tire at 60psi are running the same pressure... which one has more volume? The semi truck tire.

I did indeed. I didn't feel like typing for a half hour though. lol

what rpm range do you want to hit and maintain full boost? if you're going to only run 7 psi you won't be looking for a huge amount of top end power. i would reccomend .63 cuz you will spool up faster. .63 still allows a lot of air flow, you may even want to go smaller but it really depends how much lag you're willing to deal with and what rpm range you want the power.
on a 60-1 the .70 is on the compressor side. the .63 is on the turbine side. the next up is a .82. this is what im running. im at 10 psi, but just pulled the engine. the built one is getting balanced as we speek.
i used the big one cause im going for all out power, but the lag isnt as bad as you would think.i hit boost at like 2500, and full boost at around 5-5500, but the built block will hit it lower. also lag helps you get some traction in the lower gears.
most people would like the .63, and thats what i recommend. the 60-1 does make hell of power, but its efficany range is like 15 psi+. you dont want a small turbo now to just have to buy a bigger one 6 months from now.
