Default boggin down

Ok My 92 si is bogging down when I start off in low RPM's It does the same as when your spark plugs are wet its the same type of hesitation. If I am in low RPM's and pess the gas down it bogs down. I do have a check engine light and its my knock sensor. Could this be the problem. I have checked my plugs wires etc.. Any help?

I dont know why but the h23 has a knock sensor on it. At first I thought only vtec engines had a knock sensor I think this is the only one that has one that does not have vtec. Does anyone konw why the knock sensor is on the h23a and would this cause the problem stated above or what else could this be?

hmmm... dist. cap and rotor etc. Replace all of those if they haven't been replaced in a while. If you aren't burning off all the fuel, and some of it lingers, it will detonate.

replaced those not too long ago I will check it out. Any reason for the knock sensor on the h23? I know what it is for just wondering why it was on the non vtec motor. Also I pulled #1 plug out last night and it looked like it had a little bit of oil on it. Could oil be leaking from the spark plug gromet/seal.

does it suddenly jump to life at a certain RPM? or when you floor it? my guess is 02 sensor.

Lets say I am sitting in traffic on the interstate and I start off in first shift to second and i am at about 1500 rpm I am not pressing the gas the car is in gear and I am just coasting If I were to press the gas down it sounds like it does when the ignition is wet. It only does this in low rpm's 2nd 3rd 4th gear. It does not do this in higher rpm's. So maybe the O2 sensor the ce light is not throwing an o2 code though.

oil on the threads or the ceramic part is a seal.

Oil on the electrode end = rings.

Run a compression check. With one cylinder off on compression it will cause it to do just that.

All the #'s should be withing 10% of eachother.

I get the same thing sort of. When the car is driven for a while and then shut down for 2-5 minutes and then restarted I get the same thing happening. When I do restart, it idles fine.. as soon as I press the gas, it bogs for about 5 seconds at low revs and then goes fine. This only happens 1 time when I restart the car.

I still haven't figured it out, but JG Luders previous post of oil on the threads(bad ground ?) may be the problem.

JG Luder.. what seal are you talking about ? spark plug seal ? valve cover gasket seal ?

One more thing, have you dynoed that beast and where could I find a chart?

Fixed it I looked at the distributor and noticed that one of the post on the cap was fried and broken. I pulled one of the wires out while the car was running and I saw spark coming out from the post. I replaced the cap and now it runs fine.
