Best way to loosen power steering lines from steering rack?
im in the process of removing my 5th gen's rack and pinion to rebuild it and i cant seem to find any help anywhere to get the power steering lines out of the rack. no videos, no solid info in any write ups on this or related subjects, etc. to be clear, im talking about the 14mm and 17mm lines on top of the steering rack. i can get my line wrenches on them, but dont have enough room to get a breaker bar in or grip it with enough leverage to break them loose. theyre REALLY on there. has anyone done a line replacement or rack replacement or looped the lines or anything thats had alot of issue getting them off? is there a certain place to turn it from? ive tried crawling under the car and can grip it pretty good but they wont budge. ive tried pushing from the top side and dont have hardly any leverage. ive soaked them with pb blaster and kroil for 3 days and still cant get them. ive seen a few places say to cut the line and fit a socket on there, but i dont want to have to replace that too. any help is appreciated, thanks.
