93 SI rough first start
Trying to troubleshoot my starting issue. It's a 93 SI VTEC with 285k, no mods, it has a h22a4 swapped but I was having same issues when the h22 was in there so I don't think the motor is to blame.
The car always starts, but on the first start of the day or after a long sit, it hesitates and feels sluggish to start, every start thereafter is no problem. It idles perfect and accelerates good.
After researching and troubleshooting as best I could I feel it's one of three things, the main relay, the FPR, or maybe the cap and rotor. I don't want to waist money and throw a bunch of parts at it that don't need replacing.
Can anybody give suggestions or insight that have may experienced or run across this issue. Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. I went to a local junk yard and grabbed a main relay, didnt fix it.
I did a valve adjustment at honda, fixed it.
My car would hesitate and feel at a loss of power while warming up.
Run some STP complete fuel injector cleaner for a full tank, then change the oil to a high milage synthetic blend(quaker state is what i use). then go for a valve adjustment.
add the small bottle into a full tank http://www.stp.com/products/fuel-add...ystem-cleaner/
oil i use

I also fill up with 94 octane. I got new fuel injectors(you can clean yours), timing belt and spark plugs. I get 380 miles per tank. city.

the next time you go to start your car for the first time of the day, do this:
turn the ignition on, but don't attempt to crank it. watch the dash. you'll see the check engine light come on for a few seconds, then shut off. turn the ignition off. turn the ignition on again. watch for the CEL to come on again for a few seconds, then shut off. NOW try starting the car.
after doing ^this^, does it start normally? or does it still have trouble starting?
