Its all well and good to show pics, but I think there's a line. Showing a dead person, on a forum that's meant for everyone, isn't cool. Regardless if it was his fault or not, it shouldn't be posted without the concern or consent of that man's family, who might come across this very page and see how numb and almost heartless certain people can be, for no real reason.

honestly it's not the internet that's causing family pain, it's the actions of the person in question.
fact is, your actions can have ramifications beyond your own death, and causing the ones you love unbearable pain because you just had to do 140 on the freeway and crashed is incredibly selfish and immature.
furthermore, it's important that potential squids see that yes, the sport is deadly, and don't become full-blown squids. Looking at the squid video posted above with guys doing 70 mph standups in t-shirts, i'm sure plenty of people walk away from that thinking that doing stunts on the hwy and going down in no gear is no big deal. grisly photos of guys hanging from box trucks counteract that, or pics of guys whose bodies are mangled and rashed beyond recognition serve as a constant reminder that it's easy enough to get hurt when you ride responsibly, it's only a matter of time when you ride like a jackass.
i hate seeing pics like that myself, but i think of it as ill-tasting medicine.

And what do you call posting the results of such actions just to poke fun at them?
An educational experience? Something that is not selfish and immature?
What if it hadn't been his fault, that he had swerved to miss another car and this is what happend? Would you condone it then?
He had his jacket, helmet, gloves, he could've even had some good damn boots.
If you didn't know the story, would you still call him a squid for not having riding boots?
Photo's don't teach people, experience does.

maybe it's cruel, and maybe it's in bad taste, but when you play with fire and get burned, it's a little ridiculous to ask for sympathy.
if it hadn't been his fault and he ended up headfirst into a box truck, it'd be tragic, and we'd all feel bad for a fallen rider. but this isn't the fallen rider thread, it's the squid thread. and when squids do squid things and get hurt/die, i can't say i feel especially bad about it.
shared experience is a resource that we as human beings can use to prevent tragic events. i didn't need to go down to realize that having gear saves your skin. when my friend went down in full gear and walked away a little sore, i didn't need to replicate his tankslapper into a curb to figure that out. when i actually went down in full gear and walked away without a scratch, you could say that i took what i saw and learned via vicarious experience and saved myself some pain.

yeah, that's pretty much the gag

I agree, do something stupid and be prepared for the results, but having some cander isn't hard.
Do you believe his life should've ended the way it did? That he deserves the photos of his last moment on display for Kids to gawk and aww at?
I just think there's a line.

Okay you guys, you both have valid points. I agree more with BM, but I will take the pictures down out of respect for a fallen rider. BUT the fact remains, we ALL can learn from ones mistakes... and telling the story wont do it, pictures will. I know what works and what does not, and I tried to make a STRONG point for the sake of the forum and a few of the young guys that might want to listen to reason.
its a lack of respect for other member of this forum too. Maybe some of us are responsible riders who have seen some fucked up **** in real life and dont need want or need to see pictures of it when simply roaming through a thread full of otherwise funny pictures.
i mean expletive my girl was next to me on the coach when i saw that she doesnt need to see that
it should be a link not a direct picture

he's hanging because his lid punched a hole in the back of the truck as he flew over the bars.
somewhat unrelated: what's up with the back pocket bandana + squids?

From what I know it's a real pic, I think someone in a local sportbike forum knew him or whatever. It happened in Dallas, IIRC.
