Not sure what to do next??!
I recently bought a motorcycle off of a member here on H-T. Got a really good deal on a 03 cbr6oorr. The only problem was the bike was in VA and I'm in AZ so worked out a deal with the seller to get it shipped here. He was going to mail the title and keys once he recieved payment, and the bike would follow. So I sent the money, but never got the title and keys. Kept in contact with him about it and he continued to say that he would be mailing the tiltle and keys. 3 weeks go by and the bike is on it's way, but I still have no title or keys. Bike shows up at my house so I try to contact him again but now I get no response from him, won't return my calls or emails. I know I was dumb to send all of the money without anything in return but now I have a bike with no title or keys. What should I do???
thanks!
thanks!

didn't want to involve the cops he seems like a good guy just don't know why it's taking so long I think I've given him enough time to get it to me.

he never had any keys or title.... he just helped himself with the bike that was "lost" in a parking lot.
call the police or go to the dmv, tell them the story and you want to check that the bike is legit.
nothing else to do besides that

The key appears to be in the ignition in the For Sale thread posted above

Re: Not sure what to do next??! (rusted_eyes)
if you dont recieve the key/title and dont call the police (b/c you know its stolen)
you can make it a trac bike... dont need a title to ride on a trac or what i would do
is find a totaled out bike the same year and switch the vin numbers or frame then your legal again there ways to get around of not having a title.

the proof sound like he received the bike... i wouldn't send a bike out if i haven't received the money too you know. also they were still in contact until after he recieved the bike with no keys or registration. good luck man...

Yeah don't really want to call them, talked to him he said he mailed it to wrong address and would get it to me ASAP. So here I am waiting again.

worst case scenario, you buy a frame with clean title elsewhere and swap everything to it and buy a new ignition. but if its stolen and you call the cops consider your bike gone. if anything dont tell them you have the bike just say youve been scammed, and hide the bike at a buddies. you will lose the bike if it comes up stolen, and possibly never get your money back.
