Default My bike got hit, totalled, looking for a replacement...

Well I got word today that my 2001 R6 was hit by a car today while my friend was taking her to get new tires. Almost a stereotypical accident, 40-something lady on cell phone pulled out without looking, there was no time to react according to my friend and the witnesses. The bike had around 10k miles, so I'm expecting insurance to be around 5000, give or take a couple hundred. He landed on his **** and after one bounce was one his feet, with no damage to himself or the gear, lucky, considering he T-boned the side of her car going 35 and flew over it.

So now I am on a quest for a new bike, I bought this last one used, and I have enjoyed every moment with it so I am definately going used again if the bike meets my standards. I do not think I am willing to spend much more than 5500 or so. I am however considering going bigger, the 'power lag' from the 600 was something I didnt favor, but I can live with if the right bike appears.

I originally wanted a CBR600, but this R6 jumped out 3 blocks away for a steal. So again I am seaking something in the Honda family, but I will be looking at others of course.

If anyone knows of a bike for sale that is well taken care of and clean within the 5-5500 price range, PM me or post a link please

I am willing to travel if the bike is exceptionally clean and well priced.

TIA
-Marshall-

Damn, good to hear your friend is ok.

As for another bike, I know of this one for sale:

I know the seller personally. The bike is in exceptional condition. He's on this board as "Mad1"

I've been looking closely at the 929.

Is there a good site that I can browse motorcycles for sale? Besides Ebay that is.

I suppose the only motorcycle I am not looking at is the Suzuki lineup, the single headlight is not my style.

Thanks for the advice so far, keep it coming

2003 honda CBR 600F4i with low miles never down for 5k (price lowered) or 2002 suzuki GSXR 1000 for a lil more money. either bike but I think I wanna keep the 1000 and it will be more than 5500.

Who cares?

929s and 954s are some of the most undervalued bikes around.

If I were to crash my SV right now, I'd highly consider a 929/954.

Thanks guys for all the responses.

I have a list I'm making of everyone and their bike/price, so I will look at what insurance gives me, and make a decision hopefully in the next week or two.

How far off from the current crop of litrebikes is a 954? How well could it keep up with a new R1 or GSX-R1000?

in a straight line it would fall behind unless you had a full system... even then though, rider skill is more important.

i raced an 02 R1 with my 03 954RR from a 60mph roll and it was pretty much even...

If I buy a sportbike next, that could be it.

Sounds like a great bike for great money.
