I think I found the perfect next bike: ZZR600
I have been exhaustively researching what would be a good next bike for me. After i take the MSF course and i have another 3000ish miles of riding time, i plan on getting a different bike. The Nighthawk's not the kind of bike you keep very long, and i see why. (250cc power, DRUM brakes, buzzyness proportional to RPM, archaic suspension etc.)
Anyway, what are your guys opinions on the ZZR600? I was considering the SV650, 599, used VFR's, FZ6, and the 600 sport bikes. The ZZR really seems to hit the nail on the head with the lightweight, comfy ergos, performance, price, suspension, everything is near perfect. I can see it being more than enough power than i'll ever get bored of, or even need. Not to mention the beautiful looks.
i really like the SV650 also but one huge factor, i don't really like the character of the v-twin. the sound is honestly what really kills it for me. And its limited power might lead me to upgrading again.
Thanks for your opinions.

The ZZR600 is a rebadged (older) ZX6R. There's no reason you can't pick up a used one for cheaper than purchasing a new one. OTOH, buying a new one comes with a warranty.

word! i owned a 2002 zx-6r before and it was pretty comfy for a sport bike. i guess they're pushin the zzr600 to be more like their sport touring bike now? anyways if you're gonna get that bike i'd just go with the 98-02 zx-6r and save yourself some money.

Yeah, i really like that blue/silver scheme. Looks really nice, a little "mature" so to speak.
Yeah i will probably go with used. But i definitely want something in like new condition. I would prefer this over the previous zx-6r simply because of the more refined look. I don't wanna look too racy, the zzr600 looks more casual, but still sexy and mean in its own way.

Keep the Nighthawk for trips that don't involve the interstate, or commuting around town. They're were never meant to perform like a sportbike, but they will last forever.

I looked at the zzr600, but the zx6r 636 was only $500 more. The 636 is such a better bike, its worth it to spend the small amount of extra money. (if your buying new that is) Now im really really glad i bought the 636.
Other awesome bikes are the honda cbr 600f4 - its in terms with the zzr600. More relaxed riding position, not as powerful, and easy to ride. Id take the cbr over the zzr personally, but id take the 636 over all those and the honda 600RR.

I had a '96 ZX-6 which is like this bikes oldert but same sized brother. You aren't going to win a track day. For all around riding and touring, its plenty fast and very comfy.
You can also double a biatch no problem.
God I miss that bike.
You could probably do better but not by much.
650r=FTW
FI > CARB.
Go w/ your gut and your heart.

I still wouldn't buy new personally... used ftw </TD></TR></TABLE>
The ZZR will Smoke a SV650!
The 98-02' ZX6R actually won a couple AMA National Championships in Super Stock, and Actually Still regarded as a Track Day Best Buy Bike!
