Default 2014 CRV interior rain water leak

Hello! My 2014 CRV EX-L w/ sunroof appears to have developed a water leak. It became apparent after a heavy rain earlier this week. However, the dealer I took it to (have never been there before) is having trouble confirming that the water inside is from a leak and not from either the car having been flooded (nope) or me having left the windows/sunroof open (double nope).
Here is the timeline and description. Any insight is appreciated!

1. Heavy overnight rainstorm. When I got into my car the next morning (it is parked outside), I noticed that the headliner on the driver side was soaking wet near the front between the window and visor. When I began driving, I could *hear* water sloshing in the roof on the driver side. It was most apparent when I sped up to 20+ and then braked to a stop. I didn't check the floor for water and didn't notice any, possibly because I have all-weather mats.

2. Called a recommended local dealer after this initial drive and described the problem. They at first said that their "water specialist" was not in until next week, but I pressed wanting to bring it in the same day so that they could at least inspect it to see if the water inside the roof was going to be problematic. I took the car in 2 hours later and the tech confirmed he heard water in the roof and that the headliner was wet. He asked me to bring the car back the following morning to drop off (I could not leave it that day). He said they would need to check the drain pipes as those were likely the problem.

3. Brought the car in the next morning (yesterday - Friday). Received a call Friday evening from the service manager saying that they could not find a problem with the drain pipes or leaks from the closed sunroof. He only talked about the carped being completely soaked. I asked about the water in the roof and the wet headliner, and he was unaware of either of these things and said the tech I saw previously was not there today. I explained that I brought it in for these 2 issues and he said the headliner was dry and he hadn't been told about anything other than the interior being wet. I explained again what I'd told the tech on the first call and visit, and confirmed for the manager that our street does not flood (he was concerned about the car having been flooded) and that I had not left any windows/sunroof open during the rain. He said that until they find a leak they could not say that it was a warranty issue, but that they would definitely need to rip out the carpet immediately to replace the padding before it molds. He said the water in the carpet was very heavy.

I am not sure what to think -- I've heard of others having water inside the cabin, but usually from clogged or disconnected drain pipes. What else should I be asking about? Are there other causes I need to be sure they check or common flaws to be aware of?

Thanks
