okay sooo i got 1988 Ef 4speed tranny
and i was driving it not to long ago.
everything was smooth and normal
then all of a sudden
my car stop moving!!!!!!!!
started smoking
my car still starts up and go into gear but it wont move.
it dont wanna grab it putter like it wants to stall.
so what can be the problem?
im guessing its either my Tranny or Clutch
but im not sure thats why im asking on here

You don't have an EF9, but whatever.

Is the smoke coming from the engine bay? Is there any drive at all? Does it start and idle clean?

Clutch cable adjustment.

Clutches dont immediately wear in a day.

the smoke coming out from my CAT
my engine had no smoke at all
& there is drive to it but only like 2mph!
the car starts like normal.

i too am having this prob.but not the smoke i give it gas and it bogs like it wants to shut off, starts right up fine idle but gos no where 5mph

ur cat is probably clogged the baffles have most likely colapsed inside the cat

My bets on that as well.
Disconnect the exhaust before the car and see if it runs better.
It will be LOUD so don't freak out. Just test to see if you get your power back.
If you do, then completely remove the cat and shove a corwbar or broomstick through the cat so you can drive it around a little quieter.
Take that thing in and get a new cat... and a tune up too.
Cats fail because your engine isn't running right.

you car is having an identity crisis because you keep calling it an ef9, when its most likely an ED9?



but i would bet on the cat being bad as well

my uncle looked at it and said i spun a bearing........thats all bad if i did.

If it starts and idles fine, it's not a spun bearing.

Does the engine rev? If the car is in neutral, does the car still smoke?

nope the engine dont rev at all.
and no the car dont smoke when its in neutral.

It wont rev in neutral either? If you can rev it in neutral then it's a clutch or transmission problem. If you can't, then I don't know. If it was an engine problem, or a blocked cat then it would smoke irregardless of whether you were in neutral or not.
