VSS $%^&
Ok I know its late but im having issues with my vss. i just got my car out of the shop and the wiring is all right but the vtec is still not staying on it will engage at 5000rpm but will disengage early or cut on and off while at full throttle. how can i find out witch one is bad. cluster, vss cable, or the vss.

is your oil level good?
was the engine warmed up?
does the speedo work?
do you have another ECU to try?
if you answered yes to all of those then i can't help you.

oil is good.
engine was warmed up because vtec clicked on in 1st gear.
speedo does not work below 10mph.
I only have two none vtec ecu's.

Check your RPM and speed on the cluster maybe that small pin is off or something. I got mine the same problem, after I fix the RPM pin, then vtec works fine....
To check your rpm, turn on the key but not starting and make sure the rpm pin is still on 0. well....that's the problem i have when my vtec don't work... hope this help..

where is the pin located, and was your ecu flashing #17?
