I just popped my casing off my tranny becasue i need to change it. Can you tell by looking at the sycros if they are bad or not. Without disasembling them. I dont know the condition of the tranny since its a jdm y1. But any input would be great. ..

Btw: i did search and didnt find any pics..

Yes, inspect the teeth on them. Also inspect all your end plays an such.

 

all the teeth look good. But as far as end plays...?

 

Your gonna have to get a manual and make sure all the end plays are with in spec, or else with will also cause some problems.

 

alright ill look into that some more. anyone else have some pics maybe? im really just curiuous now.

 

check out the latest honda tuning mag. they have detail picks of a y1 they ripped apart.

 

The Syncros if worn will look wavy when put on a flat surface, Hell, If ur going to rebuild a tranny, might as replace them. Replace as much as you can. Do it right once, and only once.

 

Naw i just need to replace the casing since the cable bracket broke off. So im just gonna change the casing. So i was seeing if my synchros are bad lookin at them before i put the casing back on.
