Re: Phantom Grip LSD install B Series transmission.
Well the Engine is feeling incredible. The tranny shifts like butter and is in great shape. I drained the Fluid after 100 miles (including a Tuning session so I did "get on it") And I found no metal flakes.
The Synchromesh looked brand new.
While tuning I noticed the traction right away. Before (lsvtec) I would launch and fight traction all the way through first gear. Now I actually have traction. I know this is not much of an update but it is just to show that This thing is working as intended.
Next thing i am planning is a few ???? Filmed launches
Thanks to all the supporters of my install tread. Even the critics.
and thank you HONDA TECH!

So this is like a cheaper LSD diff alternative? I gotta agree with turbohatchBnuts, this looks like the ring gears will slowly eat at the PG thing until they have worn divots into it. Is that the case?
OP: did you go with a magnetic drain plug? How is it looking after the 100 mile break in?

I would have to say no.
It's more like a cheap 'better than nothing' mod.
People have reported that over time these parts wear and become inconsistent.
Not something to really get into for this thread, but I don't think it's something you would want to run in a track car.
It looks like it would be fun in a daily driver though.

That was really good reading. Much props there sanimalp!
Nothing is better then a true "real clutch type or helical LSD"
The P.G. is just a cheap alternative and better then nothing even if it might be nothing.

I am draining the syncromesh Monday. Gotta replace axle seals. I will let you all know if there is metal galore.

Re: Phantom Grip LSD install B Series transmission.
Interested to see how this goes, When I was putting my tranny toghether I was so close to buying a PG. But I got a quaife instead, because the factory diff is weak even if you install a PG. Ive seen them come apart with high torque cars. Anyways, im still interested to see how this holds up over time

Re: Phantom Grip LSD install B Series transmission.
I might not have it long seeing as I am eyeballing a "real" lsd right now for cheap! lol
It is hard to record my car at launch. I am worried that some Riverside clucker will steal my camera! I need a friend to do this i guess.

Re: Phantom Grip LSD install B Series transmission.
I had tried this awhile back I even used the optional "race" stiffer springs in the phantom grip unit. It was a waste of money I didnt notice much difference at all. I took it out when I found a used cusco diff on ebay($200) and that was a huge difference! It was about the same price as the phantom grip, but actually worked. and the unit was used and half worn out. Later when it was almost completely gone and needed new metal plates so I got a new KAAZ and that was even more of a big difference. When cornering hard(auto-x)with the phantom grip it would still be a 1 wheel wonder. with the cusco and kaaz it is not like that. I would save your money and get a used real diff

Re: Phantom Grip LSD install B Series transmission.
Phantom Grip Limited Slips work great. They have been used for over 15 years in the sport compact industry and offer a proven product. Phantom Grips have been used in everything from 7 second FWD drag cars to Group N rally cars and everything in between. The product was developed by a Honda Sponsored racer who has since developed over 800 model specific PG LSD units. I'm sure it will work as great for you as it has for the other thousands of Phantom Grip owners. Also keep in mind Phantom Grip has sold more Honda Limited Slips in the last 15 years than any other Limited Slip manufactures. BEWARE OF KNOCK OFFS/ THEY WILL CAUSE DAMAGE/THEY ARE MADE OF INFERIOR MATERIALS
