There are 3 wires, one should be approx 5v. Check at the ecu for that wire, if it's good you may have a break or corrosion in that wire. Run a new one to the tps. If the ecu is low voltage, you may need a new one.

i figured it out, the pr3 ecu is:
c7, red/blue, tps signal
c12, green/white, tps ground
c13, yellow/white, tps power.

test when i get home.

I've looked at the transmission wire and adjusted it a bit with no change in wot voltage.

I've tried two different tps and both give the same voltages.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks for your help! - Ed

IM having the same exact problem with my delsol d16z6.

I was wondering if I could get some help with my issue with my tps
1989 Crx dx with a DOHC ZC OBDO. When I check my tps sensor with the key on motor off I get .5 volts closed throttle and 4.58 volts open throttle when I sweep the throttle it reads good until a little more then half throttle my Fluke reads O.L. ( which I believe is out of limit if I'm correct) is this ok

My other question if I'm checking it with the car running what am I suppose to get when I sweep the throttle from closed to wide open?
I'm getting .5v to .898 is this right
Thanks

The voltage reading should smoothly increase and decrease as you move the sensor through its range of motion. If you have an area where the voltage drops off or spikes in a certain position, you should probably replace the sensor. How does your car drive at that throttle position?

I'm not sure why the fluke meter reads OL......check that you have selected the correct range for DC Voltage.

You should test this voltage with the car warmed up but with the engine off. I assume that when the car is running, you should see approx the same voltage. (Im not sure how you properly tested WOT voltage with the car running and I don't want to know. Suffice it to say you should calibrate it with the car off)

I did calibrate while car was off
And this is the third tps sensor
The reason I'm testing my car is running lean and I can't figure out why

Have you done a tune up? Do you know the fuel pressure? I had all sorts of issues and knocked them out one by one.

Yes on tune up and fuel filter and I checked fuel pressure with the vacuum line on and off the fuel pressure regulator and it was good can't remember the exact number
I believe it was 38 with vacuum and 45 without

Noob question . How do I test he wires? Do I have to strip the wires somewhere and make contact with the metal wire with the multi metter? And also it say 0.5 when throttle body closed and 4.5 when open, but how do i open and close the throttle body? Im new to everything. First time using a multimeter also. I have already put the tps sensor in and just need it calibrated.

Hye guys.
I've just tried fitting a tps sensor onto my UK spec d16a9, i think you guys probably know it as the DOHC ZC.
When i tested it i was getting a 5 volt feed but when i was testing my middle wire i wasn't getting any voltage at all even when i opened the throttle.
I'm guessing this means the tps sensor i got hold of is broken?

I personally think this is a very valid question and no one has bothered to answer it.

I may be wrong but I was having this problem and just decided since the ammeter piece had a sharp pointy end I'd just poke it into the skin of the wire. This seemed to work. Can anyone else confirm that this is how you should do it?

Easiest way to test each wire while they are still connected is to get a T pin, safety pin, sewing needle (be careful) or some sort of pin and carefully back probe the connector for whichever wire your interested in checking. Then simply just touch whatever pin you used with your meter to get the reading. Always test with key on engine off.

I didn't have the sensor seated properly, hence the lower voltages.

I had a cheap meter, so readings fluctuated too much.

New meter and a properly seated sensor = success!

I've seen some say to set the idle voltage at .48, and others at .5v?

What is the effect of setting it at .48? Does that alter A/F ratios and lean it out just a little?
It has no effect at all as long as it is within range 0.4 to 0.6 volts. Anything outside of that and you will get a code 7. Your cars CPU sees it like a ruler .4 to 4.8 volts long. It does not care if you start at 0.4 or 0.5, it is just interested where you begin. Once it has that, it knows how far you moved because "it knows" the size of the ruler.

Like any part with tolerances you do not want to be close to being out of tolerance. That is why 0.48 and 0.5 are used, they are in the middle not near 0.6 at the edge of tolerance.

Hey guys I got a 95 ls motor from the junk yard to run in my 95 hatch I had a gsr but spun a bearing so now I'm in the process of fully building that up. The tps on the ls took a s*** on me so I pulled the tps from the gsr and as I am calibrating it on the ls I set it to 4.5v at wide open throttle but when I check it at close throttle its reading .77v. So I checked all wires to make sure they are reading what they should and everything's correct. Any body have this problem or no how to fix it? Thanks
