Climate Control lights do not work - '89 Civic
In the years that I've owned it, the ligts have never worked. Since I'm replacing the radio, I had access to the back area of the climate control area.
Are there separate fuses for it? My fuse panel map does not seem to indicate a specific fuse for just the climate control area. Everything else on the car works.
Any ideas?
Thanks

If I remember correctly there are very small bulbs used for illumination for the climate control. Try replacing those bulbs before anything.

smack the side of the dash housing the controls a few times. every civic i've owned has lit back up this way. then i knew there were no blown fuses and chased down the bad connection in the dash. if this fuse was blown several other things would be out.

Thanks, guys. I removed the radio & partially removed the climate control unit. I see wires going into it, but none of those appear to be lights. I couldn't easily remove the leads and see whether there were bulbs attached to the end of those wires.
I also smacked it several times, but unfortunately it did not work.
Any ideas on how to fix it?
Thanks again.

The bulbs may be in a small socket. The socket is removed 1/4 twist. You will see the wire loop from the climate control back into the climate control. 2 Bulbs. Located in the Upper Part. Maybe like this.
The Bulb # might be Part # 35505-692-003

Hey that is fantastic! Thanks for that. Where can I get that?
Going into the back, I saw a wiring thing like #25 with a bunch of wires coming out of it.
Do you supppose that I'd have to take the front off & there would be lights at #1 & #7 ?

If 35505-692-003 is the correct part #, the bulb should cost around $2 + shipping. You can search google for this part #. You can walk into the dealership ask for the part #. Or, you can PM me, I have this bulb 2 @ $9 including shipping.
I don't know your specific vehicle. But from the photo it looks like the socket will give a 1/4 twist then come out, then you can remove the bulb from the socket. But it may be possible you need to remove the faceplate, but I doubt it. Someone else have this model can jump right in now !!

Mine just went out on my 91 hatch. They were really easy to replace, you'll be able to figure it out when you do it. You don't have to remove the climate unit, the front pops off. I got my replacement bulbs at autozone.

That's really good to know, because I wasn't seeing it from the back. I'll take a look at how to pop off the front.
Thanks for that info.

Re: Climate Control lights do not work - '89 Civic
I apologize for resurrecting an old thread, but I saw there was no real solution here. So I have one.
The harness that goes to these lights is very simple, and I have an extra unit, so if I get some requests, I'll do a write up on changing the bulbs with some pics.
The climate control unit in an '89 Civic hatchback (not sure if it's the same as the 4door), has 2 tiny bulbs in it. I found the replacement bulbs at O'Reilly Auto Parts for $4.99, and they are the Sylvania 2721 bulbs. They're not hard to change, either.
hope this helps anyone looking. I looked FOREVER and finally found them myself.
