Default No Vtec when engine cold...

Anybody ever noticed that when the engine is relatively cold (like stopped for a couple of hours) vtec wont work for the first 30 sec. or so. I know its not the best to rev a cold motor but I noticed this twice recently. My B16 works great with no problems, I just had to ask...
Is it possible that ECU picks up water temp sensor's info, or that the cool oil will not turn on the vtec oil pressure switch - therefore no vtec?
Thanks for replies

to put it simply the ecu has a couple of settings, 1 setting for below warmed up, and 1 setting for warmed up. When the ecu sees the water temp is below 110F i beleve it wont enable vtec and it's rev limter is 500-750rpm lower

Man... You really need to research **** before you go slapping it into your car. Yes, water temp is one of the variables for VTEC... and don't go slamming it off the limiter while it's in reserve mode like that. It's there for a reason. Oh yeah, and it's 80 degrees.

You will not have VTEC when the car is cold or low on oil.

Chill man... I wont hold you liable if my engine blows...
Nobody's talking redline here, 4800-5000 rpm vtec crossover, on a motor that ran 1-2 hours earlier.
Just trying to get info to backup my assumptions

Of course, it helps warming the engine up.

i know a trick to make your engine warm up faster. sit in your garage and bounce it off redline. make sure all the doors are closed and your car's windows are open.

u need to keep ure rpm's relatively low when ure engine is cold...wait till ure engine is at normal running temp before u ever rev that high..trust me, i tried to blow up my y7 cuz my parents thougth it was pointless to do a motor swap when i had a good motor, so i did evrthing i coud to kill it and revin it high when it was cold was what pushed it over the edge
