need help identifying engine in a 90 civic
Just bought the car for my son, 4dr sedan, 5sp, has "2.0 Si" on the trunk.
As nearly as I can determine, the 2.0 is NOT the engine size. As I am observing the engine from the front...
*the plugs are at the rear of the valve cover, so I don't think it is a dohc.
* although my haynes manual has pics that make me think it is a b16, it does not appear to be fuel injected, it appears to have a carb.
*The valve cover does say 16 valve, and the oil filler is on the front of the cover, passenger side.
* I SUSPECT that the engine, or at least the induction on this engine MAY have been changed... It looks like it SHOULD be a 1600cc multiport injection motor.
Can anyone give me a solid way to identify this engine? All help is appreciated.

Just check the block stamp... it's beside the exhaust manifold, right beside the tranny. It should be a flat surface, most likely covered in gunk.
