My Civic just died, help me trouble shoot!
Hi all,
Today after work, I went to turn on my 89' Civic, and the dash lights flashed for a slit second (after the key was turned) and then nothing. The car was completely dead, no sounds whatsoever, except the a very very faint beep of the car telling you the key was in the ignition. No jump starts worked and they didnt help either.
Today there was also condensation build up from the coolness outside.
Would a blown starter or alternator cause this? Otherwise im worried for the wiring in the car...Hopefully its just a +12v cable..
Thanks!

CHeck your battery cable terminals. They can be loose, and not allow the stater to engage. Also check your battery fuse.

The car will run without an alternator off of battery power. If the car jumps fine, but the second you take off the donor cars juice, it dies, then you have no alternator...
If things are dim/faint, you ain't gonna get a starter goin'. Fix that first (main batt terminals/cables, etc). Fusible link, etc (do Honda's use one)?

The car did not respond to jump starting, absolutely nothing changed. I also am not certain its a bad battery, just because if the battery was dead, wouldnt the car at least make noise or show some life while it was hooked up to the doner car?

if ur dash lights came on and its making the ignition key sound its obviously not the battery bro, check ur main relay or take off ur back seats and try to hear the fuel pump turn on you should hear it as soon as you turn the key

The dash light flashed on for a split second the first time I turned the car on. After that, Nothing.

make sure your relays are working especially the main one cause if it doesnt click twice the car will do pretty much nothing. check battery and then address the relay.

Thanks for all the info, heres an update:
The guys came and towed it, I got a call 10 minutes later saying the car started about 10 times in a row. The people at the repair shop told me that they thought some of the carpet had gotten caught up between the clutch pedal . The Honda lives!
