It could be because your climate control cables are broken. If you look behind the center console there are two black cable things that go to your hot/cold dial. If its broken you'll have to pull or push them to get the right amount of heat.

check to see if the **** is moving the valve on the water line..
its right next to the fire wall in the engine bay.. It will have a cable going to it.

there are several cables controlling everything. only one of them goes through to the engine bay that you can clearly see. Mine was unhooked so I hooked it back on.
That still didnt fix it,
so I looked under the dash and found a hook where a cable should be on my car, but wasnt even there. My car just happened to be missing the Air Mix cable.
I had to manually push the hook in, that made it take in cold air. Look at your repair manual, it has some useful diagrams of how it all works.

Re: my car only blows hot air!
I know it's not the right car, but the search term "my car only blows hot air" in Google led me here and I felt that it might help some people.
Also,I know that this is an old post, but I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out why my 1994 Honda Accord would only blow hot. Turns out it was the coolant controller that opens/restricts flow to the heater core. My car was leaking coolant the other day and it turned out to be this part (which is a terrible design with a seam in the middle that failed, second time in less than 2 years, but that is another story).
The way this valve works is that it fits between two pieces of radiator hose leading to the heater core. When the dial on the dash is turned to hot the cable is shortened and the valve is all the way open allowing max flow. When the dial is turned to cool, the cable is lengthened and the valve is turned 90 degrees to shut which restricts flow to the heater core. The reason it would not cool is that the way it was installed by the previous mechanic is the cable could not get into the long position and so could not shut the valve all the way. By the way, this cable runs from the controller near the passenger side firewall and that cable connects directly to the part under the passenger side of the dash in the picture posted by pxsx in another picture in this thread.
When I installed the new coolant flow controller I got the bracket that holds it onto the firewall off and the cable holder off. Then I set the dial on the dash to all the way cool which set the cable to all the way extended. I installed it with the valve shut to insure that it could get into that position. and reassembled everything around that. I also lubed the cable with a drop of triflow and worked it in by gently turning the dial hot/cold like thirty or so times.
The part failing was actually a blessing in disguise because now I can control the heater and turn it completely off which will be great in the summer.
I tried to post a photo of the part but since I just joined I think it is restricted so I will come back later if there is any response to the post

Re: my car only blows hot air!
So, the advice about the cable not being in position when the previous coolant line controller was not correct. Upon further inspection of the controller I removed it seems that the part itself was defective and never could close all the way stopping at about 80%. That means that fluid is always flowing to the heater core and producing heat in the car. So the mechanic who installed it never checked for functionality before install. Basically if the dial and cables are doing their job and the car still only will blow hot it may be a problem with this part I have described.
