yea, he has the jdm 1st gen SiR b16 in the his rex. he has been wondering what he would need to get and what type of work and change over, such as ecu, wires, ect. he would need to buy to do an ls/ vtec. obviously he would need an ls block, but what all is involved?

speeddave.... your the man.. i have been looking for good pages about this. I was thinking about a B16 for the longest time and actually ready to order it and put it in.. but i'm thinking the LS Vtec might be better for me because i have the option of more power.. can you Turbo easily???

Damn thats a tough question to answer. Making it work right is one thing. If you want longevity, I don't now any people that have had that kind of swap last. I'm not trying to say it can't be done, but, most of the time, it's not very reliable.

I know this guy in my town who had it in his 95 civic and he managed to slap a Turbo on it. .. this kid would burn those 65 year old guys with their $4000,000 cars. Too bad he wrecked it.. i should get in touch with him.

basicly im trying to find out what i can do to get the most power out of my b16 with out using a turbo since i dont another 5k to spend.. but i would like to get more then just 20 whp and i like torch so i just seeing whats out there at a low cost(under 1500$) that i could to do to get the best bang for my buck so to speek> my i could raise the C/R in my b16 with some more radical cams or somthing ?? thats what thought about .. any thoughts??

i don't have my ls/vtec yet... so i can't give you an first hand account on reliability. i'm building mine w/all stock parts for now; pr3 pistons/itr cams/springs/arp bolts/etc... as long as you keep the redline to 8000 or so, your reliability should be good. as for ease of turbo... i've read in most places that it is tough, and can be expensive.... but the payoff is big. there was a guy(sorry can't remember name) on here that ran mid 11's, eg w/interior at 9.5psi (inlinepro guy) forged pistons/rods/blockgaurd. imo it would be an absolute terror, however it would be pricey.

to get a bit more power from your b16, i'd look around for some ctr pistons/cams, cleanup the head/skunk2 intake/bigger t.b/chipped ecu, etc... you should be able to find good info on here to give your b16 some guts. a set of radical cams will not give you a higher c/r ratio. in order to do that you would have to get a different set of pistons/mill head(adj cam gears needed) etc.. do some searches, ask good questions and you should be able to find a good combo, that you can
afford. hth

*this will probably get some flames, but cheapest bang for buck(tune it well!!!).... buy a bigger fuel pump, clutch, and a zex kit*

sounds good.. i ment raising the CR with better pistons and what not.. some options keep in mind everthing else is stock except- i-h-e -vafc

port and polish
bigger intake manny, T/B
injectiors, fuelpump, and tuned -

pistons-cams-camgears- tuned
(basicly just a "upgrade" nothing to radical)

port and polish and just leave it alone?

which would be better for the HP? i have it order i think would be best? any orther opinions
