Default Just bought an EF

So just sold my integra and I decided to pick up another car . I found this EF civic 1990 dx and hustled it down to $280. It has 200 000 on the original motor , the car is bone stock and body is good...
Problems - Hole in muffler. The guy didnt drive it for a long time didnt change the fluids and they were dry when I checked , oil , coolant , gas in there for a while... when I start the car it hesitates and cranks oddly when it starts it idles a bit rough and then calms down but there is a lot of white smoke when the engine revs up and smells bad. I was wondering if you guys can give some tips on what to change , to keep this car running mint and what are most common problems with these models?

Old gas hahaha.

When gasoline sits a long time it turns acidic. Which isn't really combustable and when it burns it smells like terpentine. And also lets off vapor..hence white smoke.

I recommend getting a shop vac then duct taping a small small plastic hose and just sucking it out of there.

Haha are you the ******* who beat me to that car in Markham yesterday? Theres no way im going to help you! Just kidding man.

Whats the white smoke smell like? Does it smell sweet? Oil and Coolant dont evaporate, so he might have not driven that car for 10 years, it shouldnt be dry. Since youre smoking a lot, and all the fluids are gone, id have to guess the headgasket is blown. Do a compression test for sure but that would be my first guess.

Bad gas could be a problem depending on how long it sat, you can siphon it out, or there should be a drain plug on the bottom of the gas tank, either way works.

The rough idle could be a lot of things, check your IACV and your FITV (both on the intake manifold).

As for the horn, go download the service manual and find out where it is on your car (Im pretty sure theyre all behind the bumper). Then hot wire it to see if it actually works. If it does, trace the wires back until you find a break. Also check the plate in the steering wheel to make sure its making good contact.

do you think it was a good deal? I think the tires are worth as much as the car lol
