Default Jdm D15b swap into ef

Ok I can't find any real answers on this I just bought a 1989 dx and a jdm d15b swap I want to keep the hydro tranny. I know hasport makes the hydro to cable conversion but when I search people say the tranny mount wont line up. So do I also have to buy the motor mount kit from hasport or what? Also what axles should I use? Thanks this is my first ef always had egs thanks for any help.

i have a d15b in my 91 civic si. i have a cable trans tho. why use the hydro trans? have no access to a cable d series trans? youll need the hydro conversion trans mount. a cable mount is diff than the hydro one. not knocking your choice of trans but i see d sewries cable transmissions all the time on CL for less than 100 bucks. i bought 2 that were less than 70

Splines are the same.
I have had bad results the couple times I tried to use EG axles in ED swaps.
They plugged in, but would bind in the knuckles.

Hello, so I have a 91 lx sedan and I'm so glad I found this thread cause I will be performing this same exact swap. I'm a little nervous since this will the first swap I've EVER done and don't want to mess things up. Please excuse my newbie questions, I know how these things can be an incredible nuisance. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. But can I use my cable si tranny for this swap? If yes, then im assuming I can use the same axels as well? I know I'll need a Dpfi to Mpfi and obd0 to obd1 harness, ecu, and wiring harness, and motor mounts. But what else, if anything, do I need to successfully complete this swap? thanks guys and gals for your time, hopefully I'll hear from someone soon

Make sure your clutch and flywheel combo are fit for your tranny.
There are two different spline counts that vary depending on the year tranny.

Axles from your LX will be fine with the Si tranny.

Your tranny mounts will be reusable.
Engine mount from your old engine needs to be swapped to the the D15B.
Lower belt cover needs to come off to do this and then you need to get creative with some cutting to get the lower cover to go back on.

If you use a P28 then you will need a 4 wire O2.
If you use the JDM P08 then you need the 1 wire O2 that the D15B uses.

Since this is your first swap, it might be a good idea to attempt the DPFI to MPFI conversion on your current engine before doing the OBD1 swap.
I know it will set you back about $100, but it will help in the long run in case there are problems.

Only a $100?! I was reading the "how-to" and it said I needed a list of parts to convert the engine i have to Mpfi. Correct me if I'm wrong but the thread said I needed an IM, dizzy, injectors/fuelrail/throttlebody, and an ecu from a crx si. Along with some simple wiring I guess. Seems costy :/

Buy it USED
a few PM6's on eBay for $50.
The complete intake manifold with throttle body, sensors, fuel rail, injectors, etc better not cost you $50.
I forgot about the distributor. I'm sure you can find a good deal on a used one.

Anyway, people do MPFI conversions a lot so you should be able to recover most of your $ by selling it when you do the swap!

Sometimes people package the whole kit together and you score a nice deal.

I sold a mpfi swap with everything pm6 ecu, injector plugs, complete intake, and distributor for 150 locally not long ago so you can recoup some of the cash you put out on the MPFI swap.

I have pretty much everything for another swap but I have an HF ecu instead of the SI ecu which is MPFI but more for fuel economy if interested.

Your engine should come with a distributor. You can't use the 88-91 Si distributor with the P28 so you'll have to convert your dizzy wiring to OBD1 if you choose to use a P28. You'll want the OBD1 injector clips if you choose to use the injectors from your new motor.
