Default Im stumped =(

car is a 90 ef. i just put in a fresh motor.. fully rebuilt.. pulls 165 across compression. so leaks... car will start and i have to keep on the gas to get an idle out of it.. no codes thrown.. but it runs bad.. smokes bad out of exhaust and through my catch can... has fuel. has spark.. and the tach doesnt work now either. any imput is greatly appreciated.. could it have anything to do with grounds? would that stop the tach from working?

shouldnt be... i had 2 different distributors on there so far... i started the car on obd1... then i decided to de convert back to obd0.. so ive ruled out distributor, ecu and o2 sensor

firing order is correct... its an ls. built bottom end, jg303 cams... timing is on. has 36lbs of fuel pressure, has spark. i have 3 grounds to the motor.. one on tranny. one on the valve cover and one to the intake manifold

prior to swapping that engine in there, what engine was in there, did it run correct? if so theres something wrong with the motor u just swapped. u stated its fully rebuilt, but its readying 165 across in compression, im guessing its for boost. try decreasing the fuel pressure on the fpr, down to 30-32

i had a gsr in there. and it ran correct..i did do some harness work.. but im 100 sure i didnt flunk anything up. yes its for boost. plus the 30 seconds of runtime probably hasent seated the rings very well yet.. i shouldnt haveto turn down fuel pressure. its a stock pr4 ecu, and my new swap is stock compression.. so it should run jsut as stock

did u pour a little oil into the cylinders prior to start up? try to run it for a minute and check the compression again just to make sure everything is alright. i had a similar problem on my d series with freshly new pistons, it was smoking because of the oil i poured in there. and tell us about the tach not working, at all or what?

if you have the stock cams, swap them in. before tuning comes swap the aftermarket cams in. those cams have .015" gross lift (right?) and thats probably why the plugs are failing

no, u should have ground wires on the wiring harness
that hooks up to the thermostat housing

i have three grounds
one from core support to vc
one from batt-to frame- to tranny
one from wiring harness to thermo housing

got to say, that your tach not working, is saying something
double and triple check your wiring

did you change injectors? or have the right wiring at the resistor box?
or where the box used to be depending on what injectors your using

try adjusting the dizzy while motor is running? get back to us when you have those cams changed. for the i searched around and for that particular issue, they keep saying on the t housing, clean the terminal where the ground bolts up to, other than that if it keeps happening, problem is in the wiring somewhere
