How much would you pay?
I have an offer on the table right now and would like to see what you guys think about it, and what you might do in my situation. I blew my block recently, and I have since bought a used on that was kinda fucked and have been faced with choice of gettin the block honed and replacing the piston rings and all that for about $500, trading my zex NOS kit for a low mileage y8 complete block, or just spending more money on the block and saving the NOS kit cuz the trades no worth it...what would you do?

I can keep the block and replace the piston ring and hone the cylinders, but outside of cleaning everything, thats all that happening...is that jus the same as gettin a low mileage block...I mean...I could see if I was replacing the bearing and pistons too, but its just a hone and some rings plus labor for liek 500...I dunno just curious

I just got my block honed.. it was $8 per cylinder, plus like $40 to clean the block up very good.
Also, if you take the pistons out to hone the block, you should replace the bearings.

I don't know about the price you were told, but my b18b block was cleaned, bored .030 over, new pistons and rings, bearings, etc for close to $400. I would get the block rebuilt.

Re: (Brandon Chun)
Basically, I have the same Idea for either motor, but right now time and money are issues. I have enough to have the piston rings replaced in the z6 and get it honed, or I could same my money, get the y8 block with low miles, and dump the rebukd money into the y8 block, or into the head...but I would be losing a NOS kit. but on the other hand, thats partly how i lost the first z6 block anyways....

Re: (team2n1hatch)
Sell the NOS kit, rebuild your Z6 with higher compression pistons (A1's or PM3's perhaps). Use the money from the NOS kit and buy a cam. I/H/E, some sort of fuel management (V-AFC!), and time on the dyno and you'll be pulling the same numbers as you did with the NOS!
