chronicles of my d16a6 build
from then to now, bought the longblock for 40 bucks. pulled the head dropped the y8 on spun a rod bearing 700 miles later stuck the a6 head on my b2 put that in and spun a rod bearing on my b2 last week, b2 had 300 thousand on it fried rings and clacking mains lol it was bound to happen,
alright so heres my a6 after removal of oil pan
theres a whole bearing in there! lol
okay so after i got it all torn down took it to my local performance shop.
fluid motorsports, Tacoma WA
and got it hot tanked and honed
also today i bought some self etching primer, and silver aluminum block paint
the actual color is de1650 cast coat aluminum.
alright guys so my bearings and my oil pump came in, but i just checked my email and had one from fj saying my pistons are on back order fml. said they wont be shipped for another 2 to 3 weeks which ****ing sucks, so anyways i pulled the harness of my ef to fix the mess, tps plug on harness is broken, no reverse light wires (my car was automatic) no plug for 02 sensor just bare wire, and all my added wires are just twisted together heat shrunk and electrical taped so i got everything all untaped today, soldering and heat shrinking everything tomorrow, idk wtf im gonna do waiting on these pistons. my friend got the same email 3 months ago about his rods that are on back order now theyre tellin him they wont be shipped till the end of december. the worst part about it is this is my daily driver sitting in the driveway looking so sad, now me and my gf gotta share a car. hopefully they come when they said.
brand new oil pump
pretty much everything minus head gasket and oil filter.and the new pg6s of course

Re: chronicles of my d16a6 build
after primer
after first coat of paint
after second coat. flossin
this is all i got for today cant do anything else till my pistons rings and oil pump arrive, althought i did pick up some moly graphite assembly lube from schucks, more pics and details soon hopefully my pistons will be here in the next couple of days, i got the pg6s from fj distributors
UPDATE (11-23-2010)
Alright, so its been a while since ive updated, sorry about that. so since ordering my pistons ive received an email from fjdistributors saying my pistons are back ordered and they would be shipped in 2-3 weeks. That was a few weeks ago, so im hoping to see them soon, but when i ordered them it said they were in stock so idk whats up with that. anyways guys its been snowing the past few days so its to cold to do anything really (tacoma-puyallup)but since ive been waiting so long for the pistons i figured ill start on my wire tuck, well not till the snow melts and it gets a little warmer haha, but i was wondering if anyone has more information on moving the proportion valve to the firewall everything ive read just says be careful and move it slowly, thanks for looking ill probably put up minimal pictures on my wire tuck.I hate taking pictures with dirty hands lol especially since im using my iphone
