spun a$$ bearing.....
so last december i did something to my d16, i wasn't quite sure what happened. it sounded like a prop plane and i knew something was wrong. my friend diagnosed it as a spun bearing. so i decided to take it apart and wanted to re-build it.... i decided to say expletive it and ended up getting a b18c... c as in jdm.
anyways, i took the head off today to sell on ebay... i found myself without anything to do today for a few hours so i flipped it over and took off the oil pan. i took the bearing caps off the rods and saw the same thing.... except on piston #2.
enjoy the pictures:

mine was worse, i wish i had pics. it was more like the 2 bearings spun into each other tehn wove them selves together, witha end result of them being about the lenth of a quarter.
but thats what happens to alot of the y series.

A bearing can adhere to the journal from lubrication breakdown as well. Old/cheap oil is a contributor to spun bearings.

yea i realize that, but you have to take into account where we are, and what people here do
the average member on here changes their own oil, on a semi-regular basis. why? because most people here beat on their cars. so in this case, with someone who disassembled their own engine, and did their own swap (appears so) i highly dobut it was an old/cheap oil problem.

I know. The fact is that engine hasn't seen regular oil changes at some point in it's life.
