Re: Dead Rex?
its quite likely you destroyed multiple valves and the cylinder head as well. just depends on where it broke. you might have gotten lucky though so its worth taking a look. Use a long screwdriver in a spark plug hole to determine about where the midrange of the pistons travel is. (that way all 4 pistons are about at the same spot and farthest away from the valves). once you do that then try and set the cam and cam gear to tdc. if it moves freely you may be in luck. once you do that set the crank pulley and pistons 1&4 to tdc. then throw the belt back on and cross your fingers.

Re: Dead Rex?
its worth a try to just slap a new one on there, when mine snapped i tried to crank it over because it died while driving. once i slapped a new belt on there i got lucky and it turned right on.

Even of your motor is screwed up you can just get another motor. If you talking about getting anotehr car then I guess you can do that, it be cheaper to just get a new motor and drop it in. But it also depends on what kinda of motor you had in it. Good luck

Re: Dead Rex?
Same here. I snapped a belt while driving, had to tow it home. I bought a cheap $30 belt, slapped it on and it fired right up. I wasn't planing to drive around with it, but it allowed me to move the car up and down the drive way. Beats pushing the car up the driveway.
Now I'm sure there was some damage, I never comp tested it after to see the severity. I ended buying a reworked head.

Re: Dead Rex?
ive had some crx's that snapped belts and dont bend the valves best bet is to install a new timing belt and water pump and see if she starts. no need to take the head off.yet...

use an impact gun of some sort, and soak it w pb blaster. worst case scenario is you'll have to use a torch on the bolt then replace it.
